There are vest Mythology stories behind this Rakhi festival in Hindu religion. The most import story is about the Lord Krishna and Draupadi. The relationship between Krishna and Draupadi cannot be explained, which has also no name but most respectful relationship. They call each other ‘Sakhi’ that means friends. Once Lord Krishna cut his little finger when he was cutting the sugarcane and it was bleeding. See this incident, rani Rukmani asked to her servant to bring clothes or bandage. Draupadi was present at that place and seeing this situation; she tore off a part of her sari and tied it on Lord Krishna’s wound. Seeing this Lord Krishna became happy and promised to protect her throughout the life.

This piece of sari later became endless and save Draupadi when Kauravas was doing Vastraharan. So Lord Krishna kept his promise and save her, when she was in trouble. Therefore from that day onward we are celebrating Raksha Bandhan festiva. There are many stories, among them this is the most favorite story.

There is also one more story of Rani Karnawati and Emperor Humayun which is based on the Raksha Bandhan. Once the Rajputs were flirting with the sultan of Gujarat, Bahadur Shah to protect their kingdom from the Muslim invasions. In those time Raksha Bandhan means the commitment and protects of the sister from the trouble is first priority. When Rani Karnawati realized that she could not protect her kingdom from the Bahadur Shah and she need to someone help to protect her kingdom. She sent a Rakhi thread to Emperor Humayun, that means she needs help and protection to save her kingdom. After getting this Rakhi, Emperor Humayun overwhelmed by gesture and came forward to Rani Karnawati to help her and protect her kingdom. Emperor Humayun fought with the sultan of Gujarat, Bahadur Shah and released her kingdom from Bahadur Shah. Emperor Humayun gave Rani Karnawati’s kingdom back as a rakhi gift.
