What is the meaning for Janmashtami?

Janmashtami is nothing but birth of lord Krishna, Janmashtami also known as Gokulashtami, It is annual Hindu festival that celebrates all over world birth of lord Krishna, and this is eighth avatar of Vishnu.

JANMASHTAMI POOJA

As per Hindu Lune-Solar Calendar, Janmashtami will place on Ashtami tithe, the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha month/Shravana month. Overlapping time between August and September.Gokulaashtami is celebrated all over India in Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and north Indian temples, Gokulashtami are celebrated in a grand manner. Many people take fasting in this day for lord Krishna. Most of the people do only pooja in these days after 6pm and midnight with special sweets like ghee, butter, sweets and spicy vada’s. Tamil people will do pooja with flowers; neivedyam recipes seedai, murukku, laddu, appam, payasam etc and Mangala aarti to Lord Krishna Photo are idol in home. If you are not able to neviedyam with all this recipes don’t worries pray lord Krishna with water and any fruit and read bagavathgeetha it’s also accepted by lord Krishna.

Why is Janmashtami important?

King Kansas of Mathura is very cruel king and he behaves worst to his people and sages. Every one want to bear his cruelty and god also watching all this cruel manner and he couldn’t tolerate, so in dream of Kansas king he told that he will born as eighth child of your sister Devaki and bring your evil to end.

Kansa king got emotion and he ready to kill devaki and his husband Vasudeva.Devaki gave assure that she will give her eight child to him. So Kansas king put both devaki and vasudeva in prison.

After each birth of her child the information will go to Kansas and he will kill the child.

Like this six children’s he killed. Then seventh child is born as bala Raman in Mathura for yashotha.Her girl baby in prison when Kansas got information came to kill that child already died while born. Finally before eighth baby born in dream of vasudeva Vishnu came and said to keep eight babies in Mathura to yasothadevi and take that baby and come.

As per Vishnu voice eight baby born he took that baby and went to Mathura by crossing Yamuna River and kept lord Krishna there and taken girl baby born for yashotha band came back to the prison, before Kansas king come.

When Kansas king came and took baby to kill the baby disappeared and Maha kali appeared in front of Kansas king and said he will be killing by lord Krishna and he is in Mathura.

King Kansan tried many time to kill lord Krishna by different method. But he cannot able to kill lord Krishna, because he is avatar of lord Vishnu. Finally he was killed by lord Krishna lord Vishnu saved his sagas and people.

After this happened people celebrate lord Krishna birth as Krishna janmashtami and Gokulashtami, because he born in asthma tithe.

JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATION

Our lord Krishna was born at midnight, hence the celebrations also will start at midnight only. The birth of Lord Krishna's is worshipped with idol of Krishna as a child.

The other day’s is celebrated as Dahikala. Lord Krishna leela’s like stealing butter from clay pots strung in childhood and clay pot full of yogurt is hung at a sufficient height lord Krishna and his friends will stand one by one like pyramid and will take yogurt.

This incident is celebrating in north side young boys will form a human pyramid to reach the clay pot and try to break and say hare Krishna and govinda. Krishna Janmashtami is being in eighth tithe of the Krishna Paksha during the month of Shravana in the nakshatra of Rohini.

The Krishnashtami is celebrated at mid night by singing of Krishna songs. The idol of baby Krishna is placed in cradle and worshipped by people. The celebrations will continue with full of joy to everyone by sharing sweets, milk, butter and yogurt.

STEPS TO FOLLOW FOR WORKSHIP

· Keep lord Krishnan photo/idol

· Mango Leaf

· Flowers and decoration pots

· One plate with coconut, betel leafs, pakku and fruits like banana, apple and pomegranate.

· Two Lamps with ghee and cotton puts (theeri) to light in front of Krishna.

· Curd, Milk, Butter and ghee in small cups.

· Put footsteps of lord Krishna in front of idol.

HOW TO PUT FOOT STEP OF LORD KRISHNA:

· RICE FLOUR

· WATER

Take rice flour and mix with water and make like paste. Don’t make to thick are very thin paste .paste should be in medium level. Now hold your hands like punch someone for example,

Ready to dip your hand in mixed paste and give impression in floor alternatively and it will look like legs .put five dots in top of the impressions to look like legs. Follow this procedure up to lord Krishna idol. Another simple step to do is.

In your home any small children’s put their feet in the paste and ask them to keep steps alternatively up to Krishna idol.

Here I mentioned all details we celebrated in my native and my family procedures. The procedures will vary as per their state to state and traditions. So take this as example and discuss with your grandparents and do the steps.

Krishna janmashtami is celebrated all over the world .In Pakistan they celebrate Krishna pooja in sri swaminarayan mandir located in karachi.like this Hindus in other countries Bangladesh, Nepal, United states , Canada celebrates in grandly manner.

In India not only in north part like Maharashtra, uttarpradesh and bihar.In south side of India in Karnataka, Andrapradesh, Telugana, Kerala and Tamil nadu also celebrate in grand manner and it is named as Gokulashtami.
