Navratri means in Sanskrit, Nine Night. Also it is spelled as Navaratri. Navratri signifies 'NavAhoratra', that is, special nights. Many of nature's obstacles end in these nights. If the voice is given at night than in the day, it goes far. That is why accomplishment and meditation are done in these nights. Auspicious resolutions made in these nights are proven. I will explain here the 5 hidden secrets and myths of Navratri which need to be known and why people do this Navratri with lots of dedications. Navratri is celebrated for 9 days during the month of Ashvin, up to a day before of Dussehra. Navratri is celebrated in various regions of India with different styles. Few people is celebrated it in a term of fasting and few celebrated it as a dancing and feasting fectival. Widely it is celebrated in Gujarat with a nine-night dance festival.

Why Navratri is celebrated?

Navratri is celebrated to worship goddess Durga who is an imitation of Shakti (power). There are few myths linked with the festival which are explain below.

The First Myth of Navratri

There are 36 nights of four Navratri in a year. It is four months: - Chaitra, Ashadh, Ashwin and Paush. ChaitraNavratri in Chaitra month which is also known as BadiNavratri or VasantNavratri. The Navratri of the month of Ashada and Paush is called Gupta Navratri. The Navratri of the month of Ashwin is called SharadiyaNavratri.

If you obey the Navratriheartily for 36 days and nights of the year, then your will fulfil your wishes. For this, you should keep a strict fast these days and do not do alcoholic, meat-eating and stringent sleeping in these 36 days. Every kind of meditation and wishes done in these nine days are completed by being in fast. But the person who does not remain holy during these nine days never reach the destination.

The Second Myth of Navratri

There are 9 holes in our body. Two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, two genitals and one mouth. If the above 36 organs are purified and purified, then the mind will be pure and will awaken the sixth sense. All these senses or holes disappear in sleep and the mind remains awake. (Keeping fast in the 36 Navratris of the year completely cleanses the internal organs.)

The Third Myth of Navratri

If you are practicing or worshiping a goddess, then you need to know which goddess you are worshiping or worshiping. For this, learn to recognize the goddesses. Each goddess is identified by her vehicle, arm and weapon. As Ashtabhujadhari is riding on Goddess Durga and Katyayani, Mata Parvati, Chandraghanta and Kushmanda are seated on the lion.
